Inner Child wisdom erupts through Art

“It’s all inside.” said the art instructor.  “the answers you are seeking are inside you, buried in your subconscious and we connect with them through drawing or writing to specific questions. This is how we do it in art therapy.”

Everyone chose a colored marker and waited for the first question.

Some women pondered the questions. Some closed their eyes and let their minds go blank, so they could hear the answer. Some started to draw immediately.

From big circles to angry strokes, the markers moved across the page. Some women carefully added words to their pictures, forming the letters like a child just learning to write.

That was the key– this type of writing helps you access buried Inner Child wisdom. Who was I? What was I feeling? Why was I feeling this? What basic needs are being violated? What do I want? Why do I want it? More personal revelations pop forth with each stroke of the marker. Wonderous information springs to life.

As these women’s true, honest, unspoken motives arise, so do the emotions. Feelings buried deep alongside forgotten, painful memories suddenly burst forth with lightening speed and intensity. They speak with clarity, honesty, and authenticity to illuminate the women’s unmet meeds, unfulfilled expectations, disappointments, hurts, anguish and turmoil.

The truth reveals the hurt little child, the abused child, abandoned child, ignored child, and the dishonored child.

This truth opens the door to the unseen, unspoken and forgotten so the emotional healing can begin. It is a wonder as colorful as the setting sun, as powerful as a shooting star, and as healing as a hot massage.

It is the voice of emotions expressing through art. It is the song of your Inner Child.
